154 rookie cops undergo SCOUT training

CAMP BGEN OSCAR M FLORENDO – One hundred fifty four police non-commissioned officers (PNCO) are set to undergo a Special Counter-Insurgency Operation Unit Training (SCOUT) course to enhance their tactical skills to combat potential threats in Region 1 after a simple opening ceremony and a reception rites here June 17.

One hundred fifty one members of the Regional Public Safety Battalion 1 (RPSB1) and 3 members from the National Support Unit (NSU) composed the set of trainees with the ranks of Police Officer 1 (PO1) and PO2 that included 32 female rookie cops.

They shall undergo training for 45 days at San Roque, San Manuel, Pangasinan.

Police Chief Superintendent Ricardo C. Marquez, PRO1 director said that although the PNP is only the secondary force next to the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) in Internal Security Operations (ISO), the training aims to enhance the combat readiness and capability of the PNP in counter-insurgency.

PNP Modified SCOUT is a course which deals with field training exercises focusing more on counter strategies and operations that include Close Quarter Battle (CQB) and Immediate Action Drills (IAD).

Marquez urged the police officers attending the training course to accept and embrace  not just the physical aspect of the training but also the mental aspect as the experiences and learning gained from the course can be applied by the PNCOs in carrying out their tasks and duties in their area of responsibility.#
