2.5M worth of marijuana destroyed in Ilocos Sur

CAMP BRIGADIER GENERAL OSCAR M. FLORENDO – Over 2.5 million worth of marijuana was destroyed by combined elements of the Philippine National Police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency on March 6, 2019.

The Police Regional Office 1 top Cop Police Brigadier General Romulo E. Sapitula said that joint operatives of Sugpon Police Station, Ilocos Sur Provincial Intelligence Board, Ilocos Sur Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, Regional Intelligence Division PRO1 and 2ND Ilocos Sur Provincial Mobile Force Company in collaboration with PDEA RO1 conducted the operation as part of the Anti-Illegal Drug Campaign in the region.

The operation resulted in the seizure and destruction of 6,700 pieces of full-grown marijuana plants and 10 kilograms dried marijuana planted in an estimated land area of 950 square meters along the boundaries of Sitio Nagawa, Brgy. Caoayan, Sugpon, Ilocos Sur and Mt. Pantoc, Sitio Bekkes, Kibungan, Benguet.

Based on the report, the operatives were able to identify Eleo Awas, resident of Sitio Bekkes, Brgy. Takadang, Kibungan, Benguet, as the cultivator but he managed to evade apprehension.
