120 Region 1 police, civilian bikers visit stations of the cross thru KKK

CAMP BGEN OSCAR M FLORENDO – One hundred twenty police officers and civilian bikers pedaled their way across three towns and recited prayers at 14 stations of the cross last April 12 as part of the Police Regional Office 1’s activity for the Lenten Season.

Led by newly-promoted OIC, Police Chief Supt. Moro Virgilio M. Lazo, the activity, dubbed as “Kapulisan pumapadyak para kay Kristo at para sa Kalusugan” (KKK), was undertaken by the PRO1 wherein police personnel from Pangasinan, La Union, Ilocos Sur, Ilocos Norte and Regional Support Units (RSUs), including civilians traveled almost 53 kilometers by bike from PRO1 headquarters in San Fernando City to Bacnotan, Bauang and going back to PRO1 to complete their visit of the 14 stations of the cross.

“This is the first time that PRO1 conducted the said activity and I commend the 120 bike enthusiasts for their cooperation in this joint endeavor,” Lazo said.

Rev. Father Heintje L. Cañete, police regional chaplain, said the group’s first stop was in Bacnotan where the first Station of the Cross was put up.

The bikers then travelled along the national highway and stopped at the stations placed along the main thoroughfares..

Father Cañete said the activity was carried out with the intention to prepare the physical, mental and spiritual toughness of the policemen so they can respond efficiently to the demands of police’ works.

“Likewise, it is for the promotion of wellness and camaraderie among police, civilians and the other law enforcement agencies,” he said.
Earlier, Lazo has directed all provincial and station commanders to stay on alert status and instruct their personnel to remain on their respective posts during the Holy Week.#
