BOHOL – Sangguniang Panlalawigan Member Amalia Reyes-Tirol has strongly pushed for the creation of a comprehensive arts and cultural heritage code that will serve as basis for the conservation and preservation of Bohol’s arts and cultural heritage for the past, present and future generations.
Tirol, committee on culture and arts chair, said the code will provide the legal basis and guidelines in the development of the province’s arts and heritage, especially with the burgeoning eco-cultural tourism industry.
The proposed code which will be presented to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan for deliberation and promulgation into law was started in 2000 with the assistance of a heritage specialist from Australia, Tirol said.
Cultural mapping and extensive inventory of artifacts are also being undertaken with the Ford Foundation and the Holy Name Society.
Tirol said the code is in consonant with the vision and mandate in helping establish a better quality of life for Boholanos through eco-cultural tourism and agro-industrial development.
The provincial government led by Gov. Erico Aumentado played host to the 11th National Press Congress organized by the Publishers Association of the Philippines Inc. last Dec. 16-20.
