200 police recruits take their oath

CAMP FLORENDO, San Fernando City – Two hundred new police recruits, 31 of them women, recently took their oath as new members of the Philippine National Police under Police Regional Office I (PRO-I) here.

The new recruits come from the provinces of Pangasinan, La Union, Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte.

Police Regional Director Chief Supt. Leopoldo Bataoil assured the recruits and their parents of the “no hazing policy” of the PNP.

“It is important that the recruits, while undergoing training, must also undergo a process which is legal and in accordance with our policy. No body contact, no mental anguish, no excessive punishment. It should be in accordance with our development program,” the police regional chief remarked.

“If you have to impose punishments to a very lax recruit, if it is physical, it should be developmental, those which could help in their body formation,” Bataoil added.

Immediately after the oath-taking, the new recruits were brought to the Regional Training School in Aringay, La Union where they will undergo six months Public Safety Course. The center is headed by PSSupt. Jorge Rabina, training director.

Meanwhile, PSSupt. Samuel Labadia, Region I Police Community Relations officer said the new recruits carry the rank of Police Officer 1 (PO1) and they will be receiving a minimal salary and allowance starting in December.

Meanwhile, 131 policemen from the region graduated here on Dec. 6 after successfully completing 52 days of rigid training on Internal Security Operations Course.

PCSupt. Felizardo M. Serapio, Jr., PNP SAF Director, said the policemen were well trained  by SAF and are now very much ready in times of emergencies and  in counter insurgency and anti terrorism operations.
