VIGAN CITY – The members of the city council here have pushed for the establishment of a children’s museum in this Heritage city.
This was contained in a draft resolution principally authored by Vice Mayor Franz Ranches and City Councilor Everin Molina which was presented for its consideration during the council’s regular session recently.
The said resolution gave authority to Mayor Ferdinand C. Medina to enter into an agreement with the Metropolitan Museum in Manila for the establishment of a children’s museum in the city of Vigan.
Vigan has been awarded as the “Most Child Friendly City in Region I” by the Department of Social Welfare and Development Regional Office recognizing its efforts in coming up with various activities and projects that were aimed to protect the rights of the children here.
The city government also recognizes the significance of comprehensive research on the various compoments of the Vigan Culture and Heritage that is best exhibited in a museum.
In view of this the city government wishes to establish a children’s museum that will be a wellspring of awareness and pride on the cultural wealth for the future generation of Bigueños,” the principal authors said.
Molina also informed the body that the Metropolitan Museum of Manila has already manifested its willingness to extend assistance in the fulfillment of the said project.
The said resolution was approved on its second and final reading.
