VIGAN CITY – The provincial government of Ilocos Sur headed by Gov. Luis “Chavit” Singson sponsored a two-day mobile passport services at the social hall of the capitol here Jan. 13-14.
Around 600 applicants in Ilocos Sur and the neighboring provinces of Ilocos Norte and Abra were able to secure their passports in the two-day activity.
The mobile passport services staff was composed of personnel from the Department of Foreign Affairs Central Office and Regional Office I and selected personnel from the Consulate Office, Manila.
The provincial government spearheaded the said activity in response to the clamor of residents who are planning to travel or work abroad that a mobile passport services be held in the province.
This is the second time that the provincial government of Ilocos Sur has sponsored a mobile passport services in the area to help applicants secure their passport faster and with less expenses.
Usually, the applicants go to San Fernando City to apply for passports and return the following day to get the approved document.
Meanwhile, Mayor Ferdinand C. Medina said the city government will conduct its own mobile passport services for residents here this coming March.
This is a yearly program of the city government of bringing the mobile passport services right here in the city.
