SAN FERNANDO CITY – The deputy chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) has enjoined the entire police force of the Ilocos and Central Luzon to restore the police’s image by being a “true model of a fit public servant” even as he urged them “to transform the PNP into a more capable, effective and stable organization”.
“Restore our moral authority, lead by example and make clear that hard challenges will not frightened us but call us to action,” Deputy Director Gen. Jesus Versoza said during the turn-over of the “transformation torch” from Police Regional Office (PRO) 3 to PRO1 at Camp Oscar Florendo here yesterday.
Versoza received the torch from PRO3 Director Chief Supt. Errol Pan and turned it over to PRO1 Director Chief Supt. Leopoldo Bataoil. Bataoil will pass the torch to the Cordillera police after three weeks.
The torch symbolizes the ongoing transformation program of the PNP which aims to resolve organizational dysfunctions and improve the quality of police services, strengthen law enforcement capabilities, and enhance the welfare and benefits of policemen and their dependents.
“We should make each policeman a true model of a physically, mentally, morally, and spiritually fit public servants,” Verzosa said even as he exhorted the police to transform the PNP into a more capable, effective and stable organization”.
Pan said he hopes that every policeman will participate in and fully internalize the transformation program.
He said the essence of this activity is to show to the public that the PNP leaders are firm in their efforts and noble aspirations to transform the PNP into truly capable effective and credible police force.
Bataoil gave the assurance that the advocacy on transformation program “will reach our policemen all the way to the remotest place of our area of responsibilities”and that the “transformation here in Region 1 is a continuing effort which we do it with our hearts and mind”.
The transformation program started on October 1 since PNP Chief Director Gen. Avelino Razon assumed the helm of the police hierarchy.
Also present during the activity were Fr. German Cabillo, former San Fernando Mayor Mary Jane Ortega, Chief Supt. Silverio Alarcio, other senior police officers from PRO1 and PRO3 including NSUs and PNP force multipliers.#
