Police nab suspected member of a gun-for hire, robbery group

CAMP BGEN OSCAR M FLORENDO – The Region 1 police nabbed a suspected member of a private armed group (PAG) in Balungao, Pangasinan before noon today (January 8).

Police Chief Supt. Constante D. Azares, Jr., Regional Director of Police Regional Office 1 (PRO1), identified the suspect as Armando Flores y Cuaresma, 40, a resident of Barangay San Agustin, San Manuel, Tarlac, allegedly a member of the Pine-Bonete Group, a notorious criminal gang engaged in gun-for-hire, robbery/hold-up, carnapping and gunrunning activities operating in eastern Pangasinan and nearby municipalities of the provinces of Tarlac and Nueva Ecija.

Flores was nabbed by combined elements of the PRO1 Regional Intelligence Division, the Regional Intelligence Office 1, the Pangasinan Provincial Intelligence Branch, and the Balungao Police Station while aboard a tricycle together with his brother and two sons.

The arresting officers confiscated from Flores a caliber .45 pistol with magazine loaded with six live bullets.

“Our records show that Flores was involved in a robbery incident in Villasis, Pangasinan sometime in May 2008 and was also implicated in the killing of San Manuel, Tarlac ABC President Dario Tabugan on the same month,” Azares said.

The regional director commended the operating elements for the accomplishment, even as he urged all PRO1 personnel to do their share in the intensified campaign against private armed groups.#
