CAMP BGEN OSCAR M FLORENDO – Uniformed and non-uniformed personnel of the Police Regional Office 1 (PRO1) Headquarters, the 1st Regional Public Safety Battalion and the PNP National Support Units based here celebrated the 17th PNP Ethics Day on January 12.
The celebration coincided with the traditional Monday flag-raising ceremony and was highlighted by the awarding of certificates of appreciation to Santol, La Union Mayor Daisy Sayangda-Olivar, Police Superintendent Pedro U. Ubaldo, and Pastor Brennus Blair H. Paragas in recognition of their support to PRO1’s Moral and Spiritual Transformation Program.
The theme for the celebration: “PNP, Leading the Straight Path Towards Excellent Service.”
Olivar, also the guest of honor and speaker, underscored the importance of personal transformation, bravery and confidence in performing one’s duties and responsibilities, as well as the need for enhanced community partnership to find the straight path of excellent service.
She urged the police personnel to remain a “lotus in the filthy pond” and to never surrender in doing good service to the people of Region 1.
“Kahit gaano kasama ang ating kapaligiran at gaano kasama ang ginagawa ng iba…you should remain there like a lotus,” she stressed.
Olivar called on the PNP leadership to strengthen the police stations because they serve as the production lines of the PNP.
“The image that the police stations portray to the community will always be the face of the whole agency,” the mayor added.
After the flag-raising ceremony, Father Ronilo A. Datu, chaplain of the regional office, officiated a thanksgiving mass at the PRO1 Chapel after which a lecture on values formation followed.#
