Filipinos arrested in Saudi for making, selling liquor

(from a Sept. 1 report by Emirates 24/7)

SAUDI Arabia’s religious police arrested several Filipinos at a raid for allegedly being involved in manufacturing home-made liquor and selling to local residents.

Members of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice seized liquor production equipment and buckets full of Arak and other alcoholic drinks during the raid on the house in Riyadh, said Emirates 24/7, citing the report of the Ajel Arabic language daily.

Those arrested were accused of producing liquor at their house and selling it to local residents, mainly teenagers, the Commission said, though they did not say how many Filipinos were seized during the raid.

Alcohol is strictly banned in Saudi Arabia, one of the most conservative Muslim nations.  http://www.ofwjournalism.net/article/category/news-flash/)
