A responsible pyrotechnic business that shall promote safety and quality-oriented production, use and display of fireworks in adherence to Republic Act 7183 should be established, Police Chief Superintendent Franklin Jesus B. Bucayu, Police Regional Office 1 (PRO1) director, emphasized this during a fireworks safety seminar attended by 146 dealers and retailers of pyrotechnics in Region 1 and Cordillera Administrative Region held at San Luis Del Mar Resort, Baccuit Norte, Bauang, La Union August 29.
Speaking before the members of Philippine Pyrotechnics Manufacturers and Dealers Association, Incorporated (PPMDAI), Bucayu also emphasized the role of the PNP in the industry and enlightened the participants on the importance of pyrotechnics in the culture and tradition of Filipinos vis-a-vis the public’s safety and health.
“…we must be always aware of its hazardous nature, hence, necessary precautions must be ensured,” Bucayu said.
The fireworks safety training seminar was initiated by the Firearms and Explosive Office based in Camp Crame headed by Chief Supt. Raul D Petrasanta to equip the manufacturers, dealers, and retailers with the requisite knowledge about proper packaging, storage, store display, transport and safety tips.#
