Vice President Jejomar Binay today officially announced that Senator Loren Legarda, consistent topnotcher in senatorial polls, has accepted the invitation of the Executive Committee of the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) to be a guest candidate for the 2013 Senatorial Elections.
The Executive Committee – composed of the Vice President, former President Joseph Estrada, and Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile – were unanimous in their decision to invite Legarda.
Legarda is running under her party, the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC), and has been with the NPC since 2007, when she topped the polls with 18.4 million votes.
“Senator Legarda brings to UNA her exemplary record as a legislator and public servant and her passion for serving the Filipino people. UNA warmly welcomes her to the Coalition, where her passion for service and commitment to good governance is recognized and shared by the coalition partners,” he said.
“We in UNA believe that our country needs a senator like her who is intelligent, hard-working and is well-loved by Filipinos,” Binay added.#
