PNP Chief visits PRO1, turns over motorcycles, vehicles to his ‘mistah’

CAMP BGEN OSCAR M FLORENDO– Newly-installed Chief of the Philippine National Police, Director General Alan La Madrid Purisima visited the Police Regional Office 1 (PRO1) headed by his “mistah” Police Chief Superintendent Franklin Jesus B. Bucayu  on December 27.

The Chief, PNP led the blessing and turn-over of fifteen XRM Honda motorcycles, 6 all- terrain vehicles, and one L300 Mitsubishi van donated by Cong. Victor C. Ortega of the First District of La Union and the ceremonial turn-over of another 21 motorcycles from National Headquarters to PRO1.

The event was followed by the presentation of firearms seized and the blessings of PRO1 firing range, Police Retirees Benefit Unit and Regional Communications and Electronics buildings.

General Bucayu also presented to Purisima the on-going construction of the PCO Clubhouse to be named “Dimalupig” Hall as he personally thanked Cong. Ortega and Abono Party List Representative Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” Ortega III for allocating funds of P1 million and P2 million respectively for these projects.

Cong. Ortega and Gov. Manuel C. Ortega cited the value of the solid teamwork of the local police and the local government units to keep the province of La Union peaceful and orderly that will open the doors for progress and development.

Earlier, Purisima led the blessing and inauguration of the newly-constructed San Ildefonso Police Station building with a project cost of P5.153 million, the first since he occupied the top PNP position.

The Chief, PNP said the edifice is a living testament of every police officer’s commitment to deliver the best public service and a symbol of “our enduring commitment through serbisyong makatotohanan or genuine public service to protect and serve the people particularly my townmates”.

Local government officials led by Governor Luis “Chavit” Singson considered the police station as a precious gift for the people of San Ildefonso from its beloved son who heads the national police force.

Two new police motorcycles were also formally turned-over for the station’s use and to improve mobility.

Gen. Purisima also clarified the tag of the provinces of Ilocos Sur, Pangasinan, and La Union as priority election watchlist areas.

“These three provinces are not election hot spots, these are included in the list to be  given priority police actions at an earlier time citing incidents in the past and in order to address all concerns including the presence of Partisan Armed Groups (PSGs) and internal security to ensure peace and order in these areas.

PDG Purisima thanked the officers, men, and women of PRO1 for being the first to accord him honors as Chief, PNP and enjoined them to provide quality and genuine public service.#
