LAOAG CITY – The provincial government of Ilocos Norte (PGIN) and the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) jointly organized a free 3-day workshop on basic cinematography at Ilocos Norte Capitol Auditorium, this city on February 14-16.
Some 40 students and teachers from various colleges and universities in the province participated in the workshop, entitled “Basic Cinematography Workshop” where they were given series of lectures and hands-on trainings by film makers led by Ferdinand Balanag, a Baguio filmmaker who was acclaimed for his documentary ‘Walking the Waking Journey’ which won the Golden Ace Award at the prestigious Las Vegas Film Festival.
Governor Imee R. Marcos, the prime mover of PGIN’s flagship arts program tagged as Looking for Johnny Moon Series of Creative Media Arts Seminars and Workshops named after Ilocos Norte’s most famous global visual artist, Juan Luna, and FDCP have been jointly undertaking projects since October 2011 when the first ever ‘Ilocos Norte Film Festival’ was held featuring the screening of mainstream and indie films at different spots in the province and a free workshop on film-making for students.
