811 newly-promoted cops take oath

SAN FERNANDO CITY – Eight hundred eleven newly promoted policemen took their oath on December 8 during the traditional flag raising ceremony held at the Police Regional Office Grandstand here.

Police Chief Superintendent Roman A. Felix, Region 1 police director, administered the simultaneous mass oath-taking and donning of ranks of the newly-promoted police personnel composed of 28 Police Commissioned Officers (PCOs) and 783 Police Non-Commissioned Officers (PNCOs) assigned with the different police units and offices in Region 1.

Of the PCOs, three were promoted to Police Superintendent, 2 to Police Chief Inspector, and 23 to Police Senior Inspector. Of the PNCOs 118 were promoted to Senior Police Officer 4 (SPO4); 33 to SPO3; 364 to SPO2; 92 to SPO1; 98 to PO3; and 78 to PO2.

In his message, Felix told the promoted personnel that their promotion gives them greater influence and is an acknowledgement of their professional competence.

He reminded them that higher rank not merely implies more authority but also greater responsibility, and encouraged them to seek further self-improvement to adequately meet the demands of their new positions.

“I challenge you therefore to always give your best to do what is right and be more responsible in the performance of your duties and always maintain discipline and continuously prove your competence. Bear in mind that the discipline required in the police service is much greater than the discipline required of any other occupation. Always wear your uniforms with respect, pride and dignity; the basic image of a dignified, honest and courteous police officer,” Felix said.

The regional director also urged the newly promoted personnel to remain steadfast in abiding by the PNP core values aside from inspiring others by becoming model police officers.

“I once again call on your unconditional dedication, cooperation and support as we face the challenges in implementing our Patrol 2030,” he added.#
