Dr. Paulina P. Nebrida, DOST 1 Assistant Regional Director for Technical Operations, said the initiative is in response to DOST Secretary Mario G. Montejo’s thrust to make S&T experts available online.

The OneExpert is an interactive web-based nationwide pool of S&T experts intended to provide technical advice and consultancy services to Filipinos anywhere they are in the country. Also, it is intended to improve access to experts and technologies particularly by people living outside of the major urban centers where most research and technical institutions are located.

During a workshop and demonstration of OneExpert Web Portal held here recently, Nebrida  disclosed that they are also inviting experts from manufacturing, agriculture, food safety, energy audit, among others to give their consultancy advice and services.

Meanwhile, OneExpert Administrator Jayce M. Andres,  said the program’s features include database of experts searchable by field of expertise, institution and location; information about various DOST consultancy programs; link to a searchable technology database through DOST-Science and Technology Information Institute STARBOOKS; forum where users can post questions and/or answers to existing threads, organized under specific categories and interaction with S&T experts through private messaging, wall posts and videoconferencing through existing third party applications.

As of now, there are more than 2,000 registered experts nationwide that can be reached thru http://oneexpert.gov.ph,” Andres said.# (From a report of Monette H. Herrera)
