CAMP BGEN OSCAR M FLORENDO- Police Chief Superintendent Gregorio R. Pimentel received the flag of responsibility as the new regional director of Police Regional Office 1 (PRO1) during a simple turn-over ceremony held at the PRO1 grandstand on Thursday.
Pimentel, a native of San Quintin, Pangasinan and deputy regional director for Administration of PRO13, replaced Chief Supt. Ericson T. Velasquez who served as regional director in the region for almost one year.
Velasquez is now designated as the Officer-in-Charge of the Directorate for Police Community Relations, a two-star rank position at National Headquarters in Camp Crame.
The turn-over ceremony was officiated by PCSupt. Ramon C. Apolinario, the PNP’s Acting Chief of the Directorial Staff.
The three generals were classmates at the Philippine Military Academy and members of the PMA “Sandiwa” Class of 1985.
In his assumption speech, Pimentel pledged that he will continue the good work of his predecessor and engage crime busting advocacies to make Region 1 a premiere region in Luzon. He also vowed to clean the ranks up to the lowest unit under his command.
“I commit myself to sincerity and dedication to duty; we must unite and work hand-in-hand to attain our goal for better public service…” Pimentel added.
Meanwhile, Velasquez expressed his gratitude to the men and women of PRO1 especially the community for their support and cooperation during his term as he encouraged them to commit the same to his predecessor. “I am justifiably proud for what PRO1 had accomplished in almost a year. But, the glory is not mine to take. It is you, the men and women in PRO1, to whom the credit is due,” he said.
After the turn-over rites, a command conference was held at the Concord Building presided over by Pimentel.#
