CAMP BGEN OSCAR M FLORENDO – Six more Chiefs of Police in Pangasinan were relieved for failing the monthly Chief of Police Performance Evaluation Rating (COPPER), according to a news release from the PNP Police Regional Office 1 on August 8, 2018.
This follows the relief of 13 Chiefs of Police in the provinces of La Union, Ilocos Norte and Ilocos Sur last July 31.
Police Chief Superintendent Romulo E. Sapitula, PRO1 Regional Director, made his words of evaluating the Chiefs of Police of Pangasinan after giving a one-week grace period to double their efforts in consideration to the calamities that struck the said province.
The Chiefs of Police relieved from office include the heads of Asingan MPS, San Manuel MPS, Sison MPS, Sta Maria MPS, Balungao MPS and Aguilar MPS. Like the other 13 COPs relieved a week before, the six were also designated as Checkpoint Officers.
“To make sure that the entire organization is working well starts with the placement of competitive and dynamic leaders that will spearhead the organization,’’ PCSupt Sapitula said.
But despite these challenges to all Chiefs of Police, the Regional Director commends the dedication of the men and women of Police Regional Office 1 to public service.
He was referring to the reported Violation of Article 212 of Revised Penal Code (Corruption of Public Officials) against Janila De Guzman, a resident of Mangaldan, Pangasinan which took place on August 9, 2018 at 12:30 AM.
According to PSupt Jay B Baybayan, OIC, Mangaladan Police Station, De Guzman tried to bribe the duty police officers to release her mother, Laila De Guzman who was arrested for violation of RA 9165 (Dangerous Drugs Act). A total of Php 5,000.00 was recovered as evidence money of the crime. (TNM/PNP PRO1)
