PGIN conducts habagat relief in upland municipalities

LAOAG CITY – The Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte (PGIN) headed by Governor Imee R. Marcos conducted initial relief operations in the municipalities of Adams and Carasi yesterday, September 3.

Governor Marcos proposes “rice buy-back”

Governor Marcos conducted an aerial inspection and assessed damages in infrastructure and agriculture which total to more than 200 million pesos as per the latest report from the Provincial Risk Reduction Management Council (PDRRMC). Last week, major access roads going to Adams and Carasi were impassable due to landslide.

Governor Marcos discusses post-calamity recovery plan

Together with the Provincial Agriculture Office (PAO) and the Sustainable Development Council (SDC), Governor Marcos consulted with the residents to assess their needs for livelihood replacement.

She urged everyone to find alternative income sources and prepare for future calamities.

Proposed alternative livelihood include raising free-range chicken and enhanced native pigs, backyard gardening for low-maintenance crops, and planting hybrid rice in irrigated areas.

(PGIN CMO)
