REPASO DE VIGAN AND SOLIDARITY PARADE. The history of Vigan City, from the pre-colonial period up to modern times, was the focus of the Solidarity Parade that took place in the afternoon of August 8, 2018 in Vigan City, Ilocos Sur. In this photo, Bigueños portrayed American soldiers in the Philippine–American War, an armed conflict that erupted in 1899 after the United States took possession of the Philippines from Spain. Vigan City celebrates Solidarity Cultural Week on the first week of September to commemorate the city’s membership in the Organization of World Heritage Cities, an international organization of 250 cities in which sites of the UNESCO World Heritage list are located.
