CAMP BGEN OSCAR M FLORENDO- Twenty three persons were arrested by the Region 1 police in Poblacion West, Umingan, Pangasinan on January 20 as the Police Regional Office (PRO1) continued its unrelenting drive against illegal gambling.
Police Senior Superintendent Moro Virgilio M. Lazo, Officer-In-Charge, PRO1, said the joint elements of the Umingan Police Station, Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division (RIDMD) of PRO1 and Regional Public Safety Battalion 1 (RPSB1) arrested 23 suspects involved in illegal numbers game in the said raid in Umingan town and identified them as Basilla Domingo, Jose Tabada, Mateo Barientos, Marcelo Vidal, Eduardo Cortez, of Poblacion West; Arcenio Galelta and Amado Castillo of Nancalabasaan; Edgardo Prepose, Corzillo Siblang and Rorego Santaroza of Cuardanetaan; Rodrigo Ramos and Nicole Abad of Luna Este; Rolando Pascua, Renato Operana, and Fredo Organo of Maseil-seil; Lucena Tolentino and Elsa Bedro of Poblacio East; Juana Tamayo and Cristy Bello of Villa Bantug, all in Umingan town; Aljade Ramos, Mark James Ramos and Nestor Gonzales, all residents of Rosario, Batangas; and Alay Austria, a resident of Paniqui, Tarlac.
The 23 suspects were caught by the police while remitting and consolidating bets in the house of Basilla Domingo, 85 years old and widow.
The raiding team confiscated cash money amounting to Php8,322.00 in different denominations, papelitos and other paraphernalia.
Lazo said the PRO1 will continue the implementation of relentless anti-illegal gambling operations and police commanders are held responsible in their area of responsibility so that they must make moves to eradicate all forms of illegal gambling particularly jueteng.
“We will continue to do our duty with the support of the community,” Lazo added.
The suspects were brought to Umingan Police Station for documentation and a case for violation of Republic Act 9287 is being prepared against the them.#
