SAN FERNANDO CITY – Twenty-five rebels have pledged their allegiance to the government through the regional peace and order council at the police regional officer 1 grandstand here recently.
PCSupt. Leopoldo N. Bataoil, PROi regional director, said the rebels were members of the Grupong Pang-Organisa (Barangay Organizing Committee) of the Marsista Leninista Partido ng Pilipinas-Rebulosyonaryong Hukbong Bayan (MLPP-RHB).
The rebel supporters of the MLPP-RHB were residents of Dagup and Cardiz, La Union who surrendered voluntarily on March 4 to the regional mobile group headed by PSupt. Dionicio Borromeo, Bataoil said.
After their oath taking, the rebels burned the MLPP-RHB flag as a sign that they have withdrawn their support to the said communist groups.
Meanwhile, two scholarship grants were awarded to Ka Gina and Ka Lanie, the two minor amazons who surrendered last year under the “Bring Home a Comrade Project” of PCSupt. Bataoil.
Bataoil was awarded by the Northern Luzon Command (NOLCOM) recently with the Military Merit Medal for his campaign against insurgency through his “Bring Home a Comrade Project.”
