CAMP BGEN OSCAR M FLORENDO, San Fernando City – Three drug pushers were nabbed in an operation conducted by joint elements of the Police Regional Office 1, Dagupan City police station, and other special units of Pangasinan in Tondaligan Street, Barangay Bonuan Gueset, Dagupan City on December 6.
Police Chief Superintendent Franklin Jesus B. Bucayu, Police Regional Office 1 director, identified the suspects as Benito D. Espelita a.k.a Benjie, Naga Hadji Omar Nassir, and Collin R. Astrero.
Confiscated from the suspects during the operation were a plastic bag containing crystalline substance suspected to be shabu with an approximate weight of 5 grams, several pieces of cut newspapers used as boodle money, one caliber .380 pistol with magazine and seven live ammo and one motorcycle which the suspects used as getaway vehicle.
“The arrested suspects and seized pieces of evidence were brought to PDEA office for documentation and proper disposition, and a case for violation of Section 5 and Section 26 of Art. II, RA 9165, and PD 1866 as amended (illegal possession of firearm) are now being prepared for filing against the suspects” the regional director added.
Bucayu said that PRO1 has also intensified its drive against drug trafficking aside from its campaign against illegal gambling or jueteng and illegal logging.
Recently, Police Senior Inspector Luis C. Liban, chief of police of Tubao Police Station, was sacked from his post for his failure to address the unsolved shooting incidents in his area of responsibility.
Police Inspector Faustino C. Bandao, chief of police of Sta. Cruz Police Station in Ilocos Sur was also relieved from his post after operatives from the region and the provincial police office nabbed two jueteng bet collectors in a joint operation against illegal gambling in Barangay Paratong, that town.
Bucayu said Bandao was relieved in consonance with the one-strike policy of the PNP campaign against illegal gambling.#
