3 robbers dead after shootout with police

CAMP BGEN OSCAR M FLORENDO ­– A robbery hold-up incident that took place in Brgy. Nancamaliran East, Urdaneta City Pangasinan last August 8, 2018 at 1:30 AM resulted in the death of the three robbers.

Police Superintendent Rollyfer J. Capoquian, Chief of Police, Urdaneta City Police Station, identified the victim as Jesus Martinez De Guzman, a resident of Brgy. Mabanogbog, Urdaneta City.

According to Capoquian, De Guzman was driving his Pinoy 155 motorized tricycle when he was suddenly stopped by three armed male persons on board a Honda TMX 155 motorized tricycle who declared hold-up right after.

According to De Guzman, he was forced to give his personal belongings when the suspects threatened him with gunfire. The suspects left the Honda TMX 155 motorized tricycle and forcibly took the Pinoy 155 motorized tricycle of De Guzman as their get-away vehicle.

During the incident the Special Weapons and Tactics happened to be conducting a mobile patrol in Brgy. Nancamaliran East when De Guzman immediately called their attention.

The SWAT team chased the fleeing suspects. However, upon reaching the bypass road of Brgy Nancamaliran East, Urdaneta City, the suspects fired several shots against the SWAT team which prompted the latter to retaliate. This resulted in the instantaneous death of the three suspects.

The Pinoy 155 motorized tricycle, two caliber 9mm pistol, and one Caliber 45 pistol and a number of fired spent shells were recovered at the crime scene.

The HONDA TMX 155 motorized tricycle used by the suspects was believed to have been carnapped in Asingan, Pangasinan.

Police Chief Superintendent Romulo E Sapitula, PRO1 Regional Director, instructed the Chief of Urdaneta City Police Station to conduct thorough investigation of the case and ordered the Regional Crime Laboratory Office 1 to conduct ballistics examination and cross matching on the firearms used by the suspects to identify if these were involved in other crimes.
