CAMP BGEN OSCAR M FLORENDO- More than 300 biking enthusiasts from the police and civilian groups joined the Police Regional Office 1’s (PRO1) “bike for a cause” held on November 28 to promote outdoor adventure and healthy lifestyle and at the same time to generate fund for the upgrading of the chapel here.
Region 1 police director, Chief Superintendent Ericson T. Velasquez said, the bike for a cause dubbed as “PRO1 BIKERS” (Bantay ng Inang at Komunidad laban sa KrimEn laging Kaagapay at Ramdam ng Sambayanan) was initiated to further encourage the camaraderie and partnership of the police and the community in Region 1 especially in the preservation of peace and order.
“Apart from being the usual friendly biking exercise, this activity also served as an opportunity for the bike enthusiasts to perk up their sport and to reinvigorate friendship. This is a time to relax the minds and body aside from the raising fund for a purpose,” PCSupt. Velasquez added.
Police Senior Superintendent Reynaldo G. Biay, Regional Chief of the Directorial Staff of PRO1, said that the activity started at 6:00 A.M. in order for the bikers to enjoy the morning breeze of the 38 kilometers route going to San Gabriel, La Union and back to PRO1 Grandstand.
A registration fee of P300.00 was paid by each participants inclusive of jersey t-shirt and a boodle fight (breakfast).
The youngest participant was only 13 while the oldest was 76.#
