4 police officers conferred with medal for successful marijuana plantation raid

CAMP BGEN OSCAR M FLORENDO- The Police Regional Office 1 conferred the “Medalya ng Kagalingan” to four members of the Cervantes Police Station during the traditional Monday flag raising ceremony held at PRO1 grandstand here on May 19.

Police Senior Superintendent Benjamin T. Hulipas, Deputy Regional Director for Operations (DRDO) of the PRO1, conferred the said award to Police Senior Inspector Joel P. Lagto, Cervantes Chief of Police (COP), Police Officer 2 Manuel Froebel A. Tiri, PO2 Warren I. Abansi and PO2 Jeremiah D. Wandas for their meritorious and exemplary performance of duty rendered during the implementation of “Oplan Green Gold-1” in Cervantes, Ilocos Sur on January 17-18, 2014 that resulted to the destruction of hundreds of millions worth of marijuana plants.

The Cervantes Police together with the personnel of Ilocos Sur Provincial Public Safety Company (PPSC) in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), four plantation sites located in Sitio Mabilabil, Cosili, Lucaben and Sayangan all in Barangay Dinwede East, Cervantes, Ilocos Sur and uprooted 100,000 fully grown marijuana plants and 500,000 seedlings estimated to be worth around P404,610,000.00 based on Dangerous Drug Board (DDB) value.

The operatives arrested a suspected cultivator identified as Rictor G. Pinmiliw and confiscated 5ÂĽ kilograms of dried marijuana leaves, 2Âľ kilograms of dried marijuana buds, one (1) bundle of marijuana stems and one (1) weighing scale.

Hulipas said that the award given to the PNP personnel is an acknowledgment of their devotion to duty, bravery and sacrifices in the performance of their duties and responsibilities in their respective area of responsibility (AOR).

The DRDO added that the giving of the award is in accordance with the provision of National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) Memorandum Circular Number 93-018 as amended by Memorandum Circular Number 2006-003 in furtherance of Republic Act 6975.#
