7 police dependents receive scholarship grants

CAMP BGEN OSCAR M FLORENDO- Seven police dependents received their scholarship grants from Saint John Bosco College of Northern Luzon and Police Regional Office Region 1 during the flag raising ceremony held at the PRO1 grandstand here July 9.

San Fernando City Councilor Rodolfo M. Abat, president and chairman of the Board of Trustees of SJBCNL,  conferred the scholarship to Evan Kyle C. Milo, Virgilio N. Corpus Jr., Ruby Jane Martinez, Jestoni Valdez, Jessa A. Espino, Samantha Corpuz and Benjie Boy Verdadero.

The seven children, all  dependents of policemen assigned in Region 1, became the first batch of recipients of the Tertiary Scholarship Program of SJBCNL and PRO1 dubbed as “Gawad Bosconian Para sa Kapulisan ng Region 1.”

Police Chief Superintendent  Franklin Jesus B. Bucayu, regional director of PRO1, said all the scholars are presently enrolled at SJBCNL for this school year wherein four of them are taking up Bachelor of Science in Criminology and the other three in B.S. Computer Science.

SJBCNL and PRO1 have signed a memorandum of agreement that would give scholarship grants to qualified dependents of uniformed and non-uniformed personnel of PNP in Region 1.

SJBCN has approved free full tuition fee for the qualified scholars. However, the scholars must maintain an average grade of 85% during the duration of their studies.

BS Criminology and BS Computer Science are the only courses offered to the scholars.

“We are very thankful to the leadership of SJBCNL for their partnership in this undertaking as one way of enhancing the morale and welfare of police force aligned with the Chief PNP, Police Director General Nicanor A. Bartolome’s 10 point action plan,” Bucayu said.#
