CAMP OSCAR FLORENDO, May 15 (PNA)– A total of 83 police officers from Region 1 finally got their degree under the ‘Balik Eskwela’ program for policemen.
All graduated with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Criminology from Camp Oscar Florendo in La Union Wednesday.
The ‘Balik Eskwela’ program for undergraduate personnel was covered by a Memorandum of Agreement between PRO1 and the University of La Salette based in Santiago City, Isabela.
The university implemented the Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditations Program (ETEEAP) offered on a tri-mester basis.
Chief Supt. Romeo Hilomen, Police Region 1 Director, expressed his gratitude to Chief Supt. Leopoldo Bataoil who started the program on June 18, 2007 when he was Police Regional Director here.
Hilomen and Bataoil were classmates in the Philippine Military Academy.
Hilomen vowed to continue the program, adding that PRO1 encourages its undergraduate personnel to pursue their baccalaureate course.
The command provides counterpart fund for tuition fees, fare, meals and snacks of policemen taking advantage of the ‘Balik Eskwela’ program.
Bataoil, now the Directorate for Police Community Relations, was the guest of honor and speaker during the graduation rites.
He congratulated the graduates for successfully completing their studies.
According to Bataoil, ‘Balik Eskwela’ was the fulfillment of his vision to give a chance to undergraduate police officers to obtain college degrees for their future promotion.
The graduates are presently assigned in different police units of Region 1.#
