The sixth Himala! Sa Buhangin Arts and Music Festival, one of the largest premier tourism events in Ilocos Norte set this April 28, will feature a concert highlighted by 1990’s pop rock band Aegis.
Aegis rose rapidly to fame in the mid-1990’s, with their most successful singles including “Luha,” “Halik,” and “Basang-basa sa Ulan.”
They will be fronted by local bands Paint It Peach, Better Than Noise, and Titus. Better Than Noise is the group behind the official song of the Sirib Express, the youth flagship program initiated by the Provincial Government four years ago.
Meanwhile, Titus, a member of the Filipino Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, Inc. (FILSCAP), is known for performing original songs both locally and in the National Capital Region (NCR).
“Yung mga activity ay magsisimula sa umaga, with different competitions among the local government units (LGUs), like sandcastle making, beach volleyball, as well as a race among the 4×4 vehicles,” said Ilocos Norte Tourism Officer Ianree “Aian” B. Raquel.
He added, “We’re working with local artists again to come up with some installations on the sand dunes.” Last year, Himala! had featured underwater-themed installations and structures made from indigenous materials to feature the folk legend of Paoay Lake.
He also assured that a shuttle service, costing P25.00 per trip, will be available: jeepneys going to the event will be available from 4:00 to 9:00p.m. in front of the Provincial Capitol, while trips going home will open from 8:00p.m. to 3:00a.m. at the 4×4 Terminal in Paoay.
Following the festival, the annual Capitol Light Show will launch on May 1 in celebration of the pontifical coronation of La Virgen Milagrosa de Badoc, the provincial patroness, on May 31.
The Himala! Festival and Capitol Light Show are among the highlights of the La Milagrosa Provincial Fiesta, in addition to the Miss Ilocos Norte Pageant on May 11. (PGIN)
