Address complaints of NAIA 1 passengers – Mitos Magsaysay

Zambales Rep. MItos Magsaysay said that authorities should look into the feedback of passengers who responded in the poll in the website which ranked the NAIA Terminal 1 as the worst airport in Asia for the second year in a row as these are the same complaints that put the Philippines in the “worst” list last year as well.

She added that they must also explain the progress of the P1.6 billion airport rehabilitation project announced early this year, prodded by the same ranking in the website.

“What has happened since we were tagged the worst airport last year? Most of the complaints are the same and do not actually need funding to correct, just a streamlining of processes and more vigilant enforcement of regulations,” she said.

Rep. Magsaysay said this year’s ranking is related to airport services, inconveniences such as long lines, long waiting periods for the shuttle buses and taxis that dupe their passengers into paying a much higher fare than their metered rates.

“While it is understandable that the improvement on the facilities would take a bit of time, complaints with regard to services are really more easy to resolve but only if airport authorities would dig deep and commit to make this happen.”

“Airports are important because this is the first venue that tourists, visitors and balikbayans enter to visit our country. It creates their first impression. If their journey to the country starts with a bad experience, how can they enjoy their stay and say that it is more fun in the Philippines?”
