Palace declares April 5 non-working holiday in Pangasinan

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan — Malacañang has declared April 5 (Friday) a special non-working day in Pangasinan as the province will celebrate its 439th founding anniversary known as “Agew na Pangasinan” (Pangasinan Day).

Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea signed Proclamation No. 696, which states that it was “fitting and proper that the people of the province of Pangasinan be given full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion with appropriate ceremonies.”

This year’s celebration includes a “Misa na Pasasalamat” (Thanksgiving Mass) at 8 a.m. at the Sison Auditorium here to be officiated by Rev. Fr. Jerry Orbos. 

It will be followed by a commemorative program and awarding of winners in the “Kurit Panlunggaring” (Pangasinan Literary Contest).

Senator Vicente “Tito” Sotto III, senate president, will be the guest of honor and speaker during the program.

On the same day, the 12th Tourism and Trade Expo will be opened at 4 p.m. at the Pangasinan Tourism and Trade Expo Compound, beside Capitol Resort Hotel in this town.

This is the province’s biggest and most vibrant exhibition dedicated to Pangasinan local products, food, arts and crafts.

The fair, which will run until May 3, will also highlight the One Town One Product, as well as the province’s prime tourism destinations and tourism enterprises.

Pangasinenses and other visitors can also enjoy the “Paliket ed Kapitolyo,” a concert featuring national and local artists such as Angeline Quinto, Mitoy Yonting, among others at the Provincial Capitol Plaza in the evening of April 5. 

Meanwhile, the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) informs the public that its offices at Robinsons Place Pangasinan in the municipality of Calasiao and in Rosales town are closed on April 5.

Juanita Domogen, PRC regional coordinator, said all professionals who are on appointment on that day will be accommodated on any succeeding working days or during the mobile services at CB Mall Events Center in Urdaneta City on April 6 (Saturday) from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“PRC will offer applications for examination, renewal of ID card, duplicate of ID card, registration of license of new passers, certifications and authentications,” Domogen said.
