SAN FERNANDO CITY – The Region 1 police sent to beef up the security of the world leaders during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit held in Metro Manila recently was lauded by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) for being the best prepared contingent during the summit.
“… you made us proud. We shared the PRO1 experience to the rest and we are planning to come up with a template and a checklist looking at what you had accomplished in the preparation for APEC,” DILG Secretary Mel Senen S. Sarmiento said in lauding the Region 1 police contingent to the APEC summit.
Sarmiento extended his congratulation to the PRO1 police contingent during his visit to the Police Regional Office 1 here last November 26.

Meanwhile, PRO1 Regional Director Police Chief Superintendent Ericson T. Velasquez, conferred the “Medalya ng Papuri” to the members of the Civil Disturbance Management (CDM) contingent in a ceremony held November 23 at the PRO1 grandstand here.
He cited the police officers for displaying their professionalism and maximum tolerance during their engagement with protesters that massed at Roxas Boulevard while the APEC Summit was being held.
The said award was received by 10 Police Commissioned Officers headed by Police Superintendent Jaysen De Guzman, Battalion Commander of the Regional Public Safety Battalion 1 (RPSB1) and 10 Police Non Commissioned Officers as representatives of 806 personnel.
A Medalya ng Sugatang Magiting (PNP Wounded Personnel Medal) was also awarded to Police Officer 1 (PO1) Christian T. Lataoan in recognition of his exemplary performance to duty despite his injury during the confrontation with the protesters along Roxas Boulevard on November 19.
The regional director added that the awarding of said medal is in recognition of their unselfish display of dedication to duty and it is accordance with the provision of National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) Memorandum Circular Number 93-018 as amended by Memorandum Circular Number 2006-003 in furtherance of Republic Act 6975.#
