SAN FERNANDO CITY – Police Chief Supt. Leopoldo Bataoil, regional director has ordered the Pangasinan police to conduct a manhunt operation for the suspect who killed a vice mayor and wounded his bodyguard along the Maharlika Highway, Barangay San Vicente, Urdaneta City.
Police identified the victims as San Manuel outgoing vice mayor Bonifacio Ignacio Apilado, and his aide and driver, Ricardo Clemente, 24, married, also a resident of Gueset Sur, San Manuel.
The victims were shot by three unidentified men who were aboard a motorcycle.
Apilado died at the hospital where he was treated for gunshot wounds on his head, chest and left thigh.
The investigators recovered twelve emptys and four slugs from a cal. 45 at the crime scene.
Bataoil said security measures have been employed at the hospital where the aide was confined and at the house of the vice mayor where his remains laid.
“Provincial Mobile Group teams were also deployed in San Manuel to augment the police there,” Bataoil said.
Meanwhile, a conference presided by Police Senior Supt. Isagani Nerez, Pangasinan provincial director, was conducted to establish leads that would help in the investigation of the case.
