BAGUIO CITY — The municipal government of La Trinidad, Benguet also rejected the team of director Joyce Bernal to shoot video footages of Mt. Yangbew as video support for President Rodrigo Duterte’s 3rd SONA.
Mt. Yangbew, a tourist destination that can be reached in 15 to 30 minutes from Baguio City, shows a 360-degree view of La Trinidad Valley.
La Trinidad Mayor Romeo Salda clarified though that the film crew shot for eight minutes at the vast flower farms in Barangay Bahong.
According to Salda, safety and health protocols were followed after the shooting.
“Moreover, at no point did the crew interact with the locals,” the mayor claimed.
The team of Bernal, reportedly with actor Piolo Pascual, was earlier denied by Sagada, Mountain Province and likewise in Banaue, Ifugao.
Tublay, Benguet also banned the same group from shooting tourist sites in the town.
The crew however were welcomed in Baguio City and billeted at the Camp John Hay Manor. The team reportedly underwent health and safety protocols before allowed entry.
Mayor Salda, upon receiving phone calls from Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Asec. Marie Rafael Banaag and Department of Tourism (DOT) Cordillera officer-in-charge Jovy Ganongan giving their assurances, consulted with the Office of the Governor of Benguet and the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Cordillera Director Marlo Iringan, and was given a go signal for the barangay Bahong video shoot.
The mayor said he was assured by the team that they underwent protocols and promised not to interact with locals.
