Bright Leaf contest for mediamen on

Organizers of the 10th Bright Leaf Agriculture Journalism Awards have reiterated through their website their invitation for all practicing mediamen to submit their stories and photos before September 1, 2016 for a chance to win cash prizes, premium items and an all-expense paid trip to an Asian country.

To qualify for the competitions, the stories and photos should have been published in print media or aired on radio and television between September 1, 2015 and August 31, 2016.

Launched in 2007 by PMFTC Inc., Bright Leaf invites journalists all over the country to submit their entries for the following categories:

  • Agriculture Story of the Year
  • Agriculture Photo of the Year
  • Tobacco Story of the Year
  • Tobacco Photo of the Year
  • Best Television Program or Segment
  • Best Radio Program or Segment
  • Best Agriculture News Story National
  • Best Agriculture News Story Regional
  • Best Agriculture Feature Story National and
  • Best Agriculture Feature Story Regional.

No entry fee is required. Journalists and photographers may submit as many entries for consideration. However, an entry may not be entered in more than one category.

Entries may be in English or any of the Philippine languages. For entries that are not in English, participants wilneed to submit an English translation.

Organizers have been touring the country to promote the contest. Last May, the group met with the practicing mediamen of Ilocos Sur to reiterate their invitation. There had been several winners already from this Ilocano province, one of the top tobacco-producing provinces in the country.
