CABUGAO, Ilocos Sur– Beneficiaries of the government’s Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) program underwent a training to sharpen their skills on creating livelihood.
The municipal social welfare and development office facilitated the two-day seminar among CCT (also known as Pantawid Pamiliyang Pilipino Program) beneficiaries in Barangays Daclapan, Dardarat and Namruangan here.
Aida S. Cueto, Municipal Focal Person, said other CCT recipients in the coastal villages will undergo a similar seminar.
Jay Estrada, of DSWD Region 1, said that the poor must also help themselves to become entrepreneurs without relying solely on government support.
The lectures included “Gabay Para sa mga Benepisyaryo ng Sustainable Livelihood Program “ and “Mga Pagsasanay sa Pagbuo ng Negosyo.”
Estrada added the local government will continue to monitor the beneficiaries until the objectives of the government’s Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) are achieved.
The SLP is part of the convergence strategy of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) along with the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan – Comprehensive Integrated Delivery of Social Service (Kalahi-CIDSS) and the CCT )which provides capacity building to improve the program participants’ socio-economic status.#
