LAOAG CITY, – Social Welfare Secretary Corazon ‘Dinky’ Soliman said the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) will continue beyond the term of President Benigno Aquino III.

Soliman allayed the fears of parents-leaders who raised the possibility of the program’s abolition after President Aquino steps down in 2016.

She said the positive impact of the pantawid program will justify its existence even after the Aquino administration.

She noted that the Aquino Administration merely continued the program from the previous administration because of its noble purpose to support Filipino children’s health needs and education.

Soliman advised the parents-leaders to continue acting as advisers on the immediate concerns of  their fellow beneficiaries.

“As such, you should also look into the processes in handling grievances (problems) and updates or changes in the information about the beneficiaries,” she said.

Along with the family development session (FDS), a new module will be incorporated dubbed as Pamilyang Pilipino Para sa Pagbabago to intensify community involvement and social awareness.

“As current beneficiaries and parent leaders in your own communities, you are responsible both for the development of your families and communities.” Soliman added.

As of May 30, program beneficiaries in Region 1 have reached 192,681 households broken down as follows: 18,770 households in Ilocos Norte; 25,315 in Ilocos Sur; 30,259 in La Union and 118,337 in Pangasinan. (with reports from DSWD Region 1)#
