Cops seize 6 guns in Tayug town

TAYUG, Pangasinan – Members of the Pangasinan police arrested four men and confiscated six firearms in an intelligence-driven operation conducted in this town on April 17.

In a report to Ilocos police head Police Chief Supt. Constante D. Azares, Jr., Pangasinan police director Police Senior Supt. Percival G. Barba identified the arrested persons as Samuel Cajang, 27; Mario Castro, 38; Manolito Cajang, 44; and Ramil Cabanilla, 40; all from Tayug town.

Barba said the suspects were brought to the Tayug police station for investigation.

The police found inside the locked black Chevrolet Optra car six firearms loaded with ammunitions: 2 caliber .45 pistols, 2 caliber .38 revolvers, one caliber .357 and one caliber. 380.

The police also found several magazines for different types of firearms inside the vehicle.

The provincial director said the police were dispatched to Barangay Sto. Domingo, Tayug upon receipt of an information on the alleged presence of armed in men in the said barangay.

After securing a search warrant from Judge Ulysses Butuyan of Tayug RTC Branch 51, the police opened the vehicle and found the firearms with ammunitions and  magazines.

The vehicle was allegedly registered to one Joey Gapuz Bermas, a resident of Zaragoza Street, Tayug.

Barba said a case will be filed against the suspects for violation of Republic Act 8294 in relation to Comelec Resolution No. 8714 or the election gun ban.#
