Corrupted CF cards cause delay in vote transmission in 9 Pangasinan towns

PANGASINAN, May 14 (PIA) — Corrupted memory cards caused a delay in transmitting election results in at least nine towns in Pangasinan.

The towns of Anda, Binmaley, Bayambang, Malasiqui, Natividad, Lingayen, Pozzorubio, San Jacinto and the city of San Carlos encountered technical problems wherein the CF cards bogged down and were deemed corrupted.

Lawyer Marino Salas, provincial election supervisor, said the problem on corrupted CF cards would persist in 24-48 hours as the cards would come from the Comelec Central office and in Cabuyao, Laguna.

“Kung yung PCOS machine ang nasira, walang problema dahil marami tayong spare at back-up pero yung CF card, walang spare yun at sa Manila kino-configure,” Salas said.

Salas said it is unfortunate that even if only one CF card would encounter problem, it would delay the transmission of results in the municipal level up to the provincial level.

Although the malfunction would cause delay in transmission, it would not likely affect the result of the voting especially as there is a printed or hard copy of the election results.#
