CAMP BGEN OSCAR M FLORENDO — Two hundred eighty-five personnel of Police Regional Office 1 received an award from the Civil Service Commission (CSC) in a ceremony held at the grandstand here last March 1.
Director Violeta N. Mendoza of the CSC La Union Field Office conferred the Gantimpala Agad Award to the police personnel in recognition of their “exemplary display of commitment to public welfare, heroic deed and demonstrated teamwork and cooperation in their series of search and rescue operations, road-clearing operations, and relief and rehabilitation activities in various areas of Region 1 during the wake and aftermath of typhoon “Pepeng” that led to the saving of countless lives, made roads passable, and gave hope to the survivors and those who lost their loved ones.”
Police Chief Supt. Manuel H. Cachero, PRO1 Deputy Regional Director for Administration, led the 24 awardees from the regional headquarters, while Police Senior Supt. Alejandro M. Valerio, Jr., Battalion Commander of the 1st Regional Public Safety Management Battalion (RPSMB), received the award on behalf of the 261 RPSMB recipients.
Police Chief Supt. Constante D. Azares, Jr., PRO1 Regional Director, expressed gratitude to the CSC for recognizing the efforts and sacrifices of his policemen even as he said that the award would inspire the police personnel to render more efficient service to the country.
The regional director stressed that PRO1 shall remain an active partner in delivering quality service to the Region 1 community, particularly in the field of public safety as “we are committed to continue carrying out our moral responsibility, putting first the welfare of the community before personal interest.”
Azares also reminded his men to stay apolitical and non-partisan in the upcoming elections and to follow the marching orders of the Chief PNP to stick to the Comelec rules.
“Huwag sana tayong padadala sa mga pangakong walang katiyakan. Patunayan natin na ang kapulisan ay handang humarap sa anumang pagsubok, laging nakalaang maglingkod ng tapat at karapat-dapat sa bawat parangal,”
The Gantimpala Agad Award is a component of the Mamamayan Muna Program of the CSC with the primary goal to give instant recognition and reward to government officials and employees who have rendered prompt, courteous, efficient and honest service, as well as heroic acts in the course of duty.#
