BAGUIO CITY — Seven DepEd Ilocos Sur talents asserted their supremacy in the different contested events to rule the 57th edition of the National Rizal Youth Leadership Institute (NRYLI) competitions held at Teachers’ Camp, Baguio City, December 11-14, 2019.
Imee Alexandria Peralta (extemporaneous speech) of Sinait National High School, Hannah Mae Abuan (essay writing) of Tagudin NHS and Bun Angelo Tadeja (painting) also of Tagudin NHS, each won 1st place in their respective events to lead the Ilocos Sur delegation in bagging the overall championship title in this annual national competitions.
Winning second places were Draezl Faye Urolaza (essay writing) of San Juan NHS and Cydrick Jhan Vito Cruz (painting) of Narvacan National CHS while Cecilia Jewel Milanes of Tagudin NHS and Auria Graceil Alabasan of Teodoro Hernaez NHS also won 3rd place in extemporaneous speaking and oration respectively.
Each winner received a medal and cash prize. The Ilocos Sur delegation consisting of 36 participants (contestants and coaches) was also awarded as the 2nd biggest delegation behind Nagcarlan, Laguna.
NRYLI 2019 revolved around the theme: “Nasaan Na Kayo Kabataan? – Inang Bayan.”
The seven medalists were products of the Ilocos Sur Division’s DRYLI (Division Rizal Youth Leadership Institute) conference initiated by Araling Panlipunan Education Supervisor Maribeth Magpali and duly approved by the Ilocos Sur Division office through Superintendent Jorge Reinante.
The annual NRYLI is sponsored by the Order of the Knights of Rizal, a civic, patriotic, cultural, non-partisan, non-sectarian and non-profit organization whose aim is to honor and uphold the ideals of Dr. José Rizal. It is highlighted by different contested events designed for both high school and college students from all over the country. ●
