VIGAN CITY–Region I Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) officials revealed that of the 25,600 4Ps in Ilocos Sur, there are already more than 100 beneficiaries delisted due to various violations, during a press meeting held at Alad Bar in this city April 28.
DSWD Regional Information Officer Iryn Cubangbang said that these violations range from absenteeism to family development sessions to failure to undergo regular check-up and deworming, absenteeism of student beneficiaries in school, gambling especially of 4Ps parents and pawning of ATMs.
Asked on the update of 4Ps in the province, Listahanan Information Officer Jaymante Pearl Apilado said they are still awaiting for the updated list of 4Ps beneficiaries which would be the result of the 2015 census and investigation of 4Ps households conducted in 2015. She said that the number of households for delisting would depend on the updated list.
The group also discussed the current DSWD programs designed to help needy people like the Aid to Solo Parents, Programs for People with Disability (PWD), Food Assistance (Tulong na Pagkain) to indigents, Giving of Food Packs to Calamity Victims, Social Pension for Indigent Senior Citizens, National Drug Rehabilitation Program, Supplementary Feeding Program, Cash for Work Program, Travel Clearance Program for Minors, Domestic Adoption, Emergency Shelter Assistance, Feeding program, Tulong Pampalibing, Tulong Medical, Tulong Pampaaral, Tulong Pamasahe, Kalahi-CIDSS NCDDP (Kapit Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan- Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services National Community Driven Development Program and the DSWD’s Sustainable Livelihood Program.
She said these programs can be availed by any qualified individuals or families.
Meanwhile, Jaesem Ryan Gaces, Pantawid Information Officer said that there are now 664 DSWD college scholars in Ilocos Sur — 297 slots in UNP (University of Northern Philippines), 242 at the ISPSC (Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College) and 125 has been allocated for NLPSC (North Luzon Philippine State College).
“All of these slots are already availed,” he said.
