URBIZTONDO, Pangasinan — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) granted capital assistance to the beneficiaries of the “Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program” (4Ps) here last January 3.
There are 160 qualified recipients of the said program who were provided financial assistance ranging from P5,000 to P10,000. The amount will help the poor families start or put up small-scale business or microenterprise such as ‘bilao’ making, sari-sari store, junk shop, ‘abaca’ rope making, bamboo furniture making, frozen vegetables, ‘balut’ vending, and a lot more.
In ceremonial awarding, OIC-regional director Marlene Febes Peralta and Urbiztondo Mayor Ernesto Balolong Jr. handed over 11 checks to organized Self Employment Assistance Kaunlaran (SEA-K) groups and associations amounting to P1.2 million.
In her message, Peralta urged the beneficiaries to value the microenterprises they will build and strictly follow the repayment scheme designed for two years so that government could still be able to help other needy families through the SEA-K program.
She also cited, “Kayo ay umangat na ngayon at huwag na kayong bumalik sa dating napakahirap na sitwasyon.” (Your lives have improved; do not go back to the impoverished condition anymore.)
Mayor Balolong remarked, “Magsumikap tayo para tuloy-tuloy ang pangarap na maunlad na buhay.” (Let us persevere to reach our aspirations for an improved quality of life.)
Since 2011, government agencies like DSWD, DENR, DA, DPWH, DOST, TESDA, DTI, DOLE and BFAR converged programs and services for the recipients of the 4Ps to focus expertise and resource thus, creating an impact in the lives of less fortunate families.#
