TUGUEGARAO CITY – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) region 2 has warned beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4 Ps) on the proliferation of text scams.

Angely Lubo, information officer, said reports have reached their office that there are unknown numbers sending messages to some of the beneficiaries of 4Ps in the region that DSWD has a raffle promo.

Lubo feared that the beneficiaries might believe the text messages and they might become victims of the strategy of getting cash as they demand cellphone loads or any amount to process the raffle draw promo.

She also stated that some of the messages say that the receiver won house and lot, P1 million, vehicle and other promo offers that are not true.

“We warn our beneficiaries not to believe in any messages informing them of a promo from DSWD. It’s a hoax and they must not reply or follow any instruction from the texters to give loads or any amount of money they demand,” Lubo said.

She clarified that, as of now, there are no programs of DSWD for  4Ps beneficiaries or any institutions that give raffle or any kind of promos to their clients.

Lubo also advised the beneficiaries to always consult their municipal links on any program, projects or updates that concerns them before they act or believe on any messages that reach them.

Beneficiaries should always remember that only officials deputized by the DSWD to handle them are authorized to communicate with them regarding the 4Ps program. Unknown numbers must not be entertained, unless otherwise, municipal links will confirm, Lubo added.#
