First Provincial Tourism Awards to recognize pioneers in Ilocos Norte

LAOAG CITY – The Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte (PGIN) through the Ilocos Norte Tourism Office (INTO) and in cooperation with the Association of Tourism Officers of Ilocos Norte (ATOIN) will be conducting the 1st Provincial Tourism Awards as part of the Ilocos Norte Tourism Gala at the Fort Ilocandia Resort Hotel on November 30.

The Provincial Tourism Awards aims to recognize pioneering projects and industry leaders in hospitality and customer service, agri-tourism and eco-tourism, and marketing and product development, among others.

“This is our way of recognizing our partners in the tourism industry who are real pioneers and who have been really helpful in our tourism projects,” remarked Provincial Tourism Officer Mr. Aian B. Raquel

“[We distinguish] those who have always uphold the best tourism standards and those with unique projects,” he added.

Lauding the support of Ilocos Norte Governor Imee R. Marcos for this event, Mr. Raquel said:

“It has always been her [Governor Imee R. Marcos] desire to celebrate and recognize the pioneers in Ilocos Norte.”

With her notable support to tourism development, last June 8, Governor Marcos received an award of distinction from 14th Tourism Personality Awards of the Rotary Club of Manila. She was recognized for her initiatives and efforts toward the advancement and sustainability of Cultural and Community Tourism.

The screening committee was comprised of the Office of the Governor, INTO, and ATOIN. Nominations were initially coordinated with local government units (LGUs) and ended last October 22. (PGIN-CMO)
