Gabriela Rep. Arlene Brosas takes oath at Candon City Museum

GABRIELA WOMEN’S PARTY Representative Arlene Brosas (second from left) took her oath of office before Regional Trial Court Judge Gina Juan Chan (third from left) on June 21 at the Candon City Museum, ancestral home of revolutionary Gabriela Silang. Brosas said the oath honors the henerala from Ilocos whose bravery to stand up against foreign domination remains an inspiration today amid China’s encroachment over the West Philippine Sea. She affirmed the group’s solidarity with the Filipino fishermen in their fight to defend the West Philippine Sea, and with the indigenous communities that oppose the construction of dam projects funded by onerous loans from China.
