Guns, drugs seized in search ops in Asingan, Pangasinan

CAMP BGEN OSCAR M FLORENDO- The Region 1 police scored in its anti-criminality campaign with the arrest of a suspected drug dealer and seizure of alleged illegal drugs, firearms, ammunition, and drug money in two search operations in Sitio Pannagidan, Barangay Baro, Asingan, Pangasinan on July 8.

Police Chief Superintendent Roman A. Felix, Regional Director of Police Regional Office 1 (PRO1), said eight firearms of different caliber, assorted magazines, ammunition, binoculars, air soft replica and 3 motorcycles were confiscated at the house and premises of Juan P. Barongan Jr. while a caliber 22 air rifle was found in the house of Acmad Maamok.

Felix added that suspected illegal drugs and paraphernalia were confiscated inside the houses of the suspects. Barongan Jr. was arrested while Maamok was not present during the search.

Search warrants A-2-14 and A-3-14 were issued by Judge Camilo B. Asuncion Sr. of the 7th Municipal Circuit Trial Court (MCTC) of Asingan-San Manuel on July 7 against Barongan Jr. and Maamok for violation of Republic Act 9165 and R.A. 8294 as amended by R.A. 10591.

The joint operatives were composed of personnel from Asingan Police Station, Regional Public Safety Battalion 1 (RPSB1), Pangasinan Provincial Public Safety Company, Criminal Investigation and Detective Management (CIDG), Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Regional Office 1 (PDEA-RO1) and Highway Patrol Group 1 (HPG1).

The implementation of the search warrants were done in a peaceful manner and witnessed by the barangay officials of said place and media personalities.

The arrested person and seized items were brought to Asingan Police Station for proper disposition and documentation while appropriate cases are being prepared against the suspects.#
