I. Sur police tops photo contest

SAN FERNANDO CITY – A policeman from Ilocos Sur bested all the participants from other police provincial  offices in the region in the photo contest held as a culminating activity during the seminar on photo and video journalism on June 19-20 here.

SPO1 Orlando Alconis, Jr. from Ilocos Sur PPO topped the photo competition, with PO3 of the Ilocos Norte PPO, second, and PO2 Mary Grace Espino of the regional headquarters, third place.

Police Chief Supt. Leopoldo Bataoil, regional director, said Boy Cabrido and Val Rodriguez, photo editors of Philippine Daily Inquirer and Philippine Stars, and Leonito Novales of PIO-NHQ PNP, conducted the seminar on photojournalism to thirty personnel of the police regional office.

 Bataoil said that among the 17 PROs in the country, PRO-1 was the first to conduct a seminar on photo and video journalism.

“This is a long-scheduled activity, and I’m very thankful to our guest lecturers for imparting their knowledge on photojournalism works. I know for sure that knowledge in photography may be beneficial to our work as law enforcers especially for documentation purposes,” regional director said.

The photo entries were  adjudged by Cabrido and Rodriguez.
