LAOAG CITY- Ilocos Norte celebrated La Virgen Milagrosa Provincial Fiesta last May 15-24, in honor of the province’s patron saint, La Virgen Milagrosa de Badoc.
The 10-day festival commenced with a novena mass on May 15 at St. Augustine Parish, Paoay and continued at Immaculate Conception, Batac City (May 16); St. Nicholas de Tolentino, San Nicolas (May 17); St. Joseph Parish, Dingras (May 18); St. Anne Parish, Piddig (May 19); Sta. Monica Parish, Sarrat (May 20); St. Andrew Parish, Bacarra (May 21); St. Lawrence the Deacon, Bangui (May 22); St. John the Baptist Parish, Badoc (May 23) ; and St. William Cathedral, Laoag City (May 24).
A grand procession around Laoag City was held on May 24 and participated in by the province’s various parishes and the reenactment of La Virgen Milagrosa de Badoc’s arrival along the white sands of Logo Cove in Barangay La Virgen Milagrosa in Badoc at 7:00 pm.
Highlight of the fiesta celebration was the annual “Himala sa Buhangin” music and arts festival which included sand and sports activities, art installations, music and entertainment.
“We always look forward to the festival as it promotes and strengthens Ilocos Norte’s key tourist spots, dynamic Ilocano arts and culture which is one of Governor Imee’s continuing endeavors for the province,” Provincial Information Officer Jun Arvin Gudoy said. (Aivee C. Samonte, PGIN-CMO)
